Privacy & Terms

The short version

ExifGrabber reads the metadata from your photos and RAW files entirely inside your browser. Your images are never uploaded, stored, transmitted, or seen by us or anyone else. There are no accounts, and we don't track what you analyze.

Your images stay on your device

When you drop a file onto ExifGrabber, all decoding and EXIF extraction happens locally, in your browser, on your own computer or phone. The file is never sent to a server. We have no ability to access, retain, or recover any image you open with the tool. Closing or refreshing the page discards everything.

What we do not collect

  • No image uploads or copies of your files.
  • No accounts, names, emails, or passwords.
  • No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies set by us.
  • No analytics that receive your images or their metadata.

Limited information that does leave your device

In the interest of full transparency, a few ordinary web interactions do involve third parties:

  • Maps. If a photo contains GPS coordinates and you open the map view, map image tiles are requested from third-party providers (OpenStreetMap and CARTO). Those requests necessarily reveal the map area being viewed to those providers. If you never open the map, no such request is made.
  • Hosting. The website is served by our hosting provider, which, like virtually all web hosts, may automatically log standard request information such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, for security and operational purposes.
  • Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure anonymized, aggregated metrics — such as page views, approximate visitor counts, referrers, country, device type, and page-load timings — so we can understand overall traffic and keep the site fast. Both are cookieless and do not collect your images, their metadata, or information that personally identifies you.
  • Outbound & affiliate links. Some pages link to third-party sites, including Amazon. ExifGrabber participates in the Amazon Associates program and may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through those links. Once you follow a link, the destination site's own privacy practices apply.

Cookies & local storage

ExifGrabber does not set tracking cookies and does not store your images or analysis history. Third-party services you interact with (such as the map providers or sites you click through to) may use their own cookies under their own policies.

Children's privacy

ExifGrabber is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.

Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

ExifGrabber is provided strictly “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We make no guarantee that the tool will be available, error-free, or uninterrupted, or that any metadata it displays is accurate, complete, or correct. Metadata can be missing, wrong, edited, or stripped by cameras, software, or other tools, and ExifGrabber simply reports what it is able to read. You rely on its output at your own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall ExifGrabber, its operators, or contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your access to, use of, or inability to use the website or its content, or your reliance on any information or metadata it provides — whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, and even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

The website may reference or link to third-party websites, products, or services. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, policies, or practices of any third party. Nothing on this website constitutes professional, legal, financial, or other advice.

By using ExifGrabber, you agree to these terms and assume full responsibility for your use of the website and any decisions made based on it. If any provision of this section is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force, and the unenforceable provision will be limited to the minimum extent necessary.
