What is ORF?
ORF is the RAW format from Olympus and its successor OM System, used across the OM-D, PEN, and OM-1 Micro Four Thirds cameras.
It's a TIFF-based container that records the sensor data and the camera's shooting metadata.
What metadata ORF files carry
ORF files include standard EXIF plus Olympus MakerNotes, which capture the brand's computational features, in-body stabilization details, art filters, and more. ExifGrabber surfaces the standard fields in tabs and the rest in the raw dump.
Olympus and OM System bodies typically expose shutter count through an in-camera key sequence rather than in photo metadata, so an ORF usually won't contain the actuation count.
Where ORF files come from
- OM System OM-1 and OM-5
- Olympus OM-D (E-M1, E-M5, E-M10)
- Olympus PEN series
Want to remove the metadata?
Metadata removal for ORF isn't supported yet, RAW and HEIC files store metadata woven into the file structure. You can still view everything here. To strip metadata from a JPEG, PNG, or WebP, use the EXIF remover.
