What is RAF?

RAF is Fujifilm's RAW format, used across the X-series (X-T, X-Pro, X100, X-H) and the medium-format GFX line. Many X-series cameras use Fuji's unique X-Trans sensor.

Unlike most RAW formats, RAF uses Fujifilm's own file structure rather than a standard TIFF layout, which is why some generic tools struggle with it.

What metadata RAF files carry

RAF files carry standard EXIF plus Fujifilm MakerNotes, which famously record the film simulation (Velvia, Classic Chrome, Acros…) and other Fuji-specific settings. ExifGrabber reads the standard fields and shows the full set in the raw dump.

Because RAF isn't a plain TIFF, dedicated parsing matters, ExifGrabber handles the format directly and extracts the embedded preview so you see the image.

Want to remove the metadata?

Metadata removal for RAF isn't supported yet, RAW and HEIC files store metadata woven into the file structure. You can still view everything here. To strip metadata from a JPEG, PNG, or WebP, use the EXIF remover.
